  • The Warmth in the Cold!

Today is a chilly winter morning. It is one such day when you want to stay snuggled in your bed and not step out of it. When getting up is a challenge , suddenly I feel the golden rays hitting the glass window and find it’s way into my room through my linen curtains. The mere presence of the sunlight makes me smile and motivates me to jump out of my bed and soak in it’s warmth.

It’s embrace , reminds me of the most warmest hug that I usually give my Mother when I wake up, whenever I stay with her. As I sit down to enjoy my hot cup of tea admiring the beautiful sun on this chilly winter morning, I am visited by Mr & Mrs Goofy. Let me introduce you to my every day morning visitors first. This couple is my early morning , garden admirers. They love to take a stroll through my garden, walking pass my plants , admiring the flowers for a moment and completing their morning walk inhaling the fresh oxygen from my garden.

They love it soo much that sometimes, I over hear their plans to settle in my garden and have a family nested in between the flowers , amidst the lush greenery. But every story has a villain! In this story , it is me. I see them pouncing on my fern plant and doing a happy dance . That scene is enough to set me on my toes , with full determination to scare their lives out, I barge in my garden and chase them away.

The moment they see me , they start flapping their wings and try to find a way out. For heaven’s sake it’s an open balcony, and mind you it’s soo difficult to find the way out! They bang into the railings , frantically flapping their wings and keeping an eye on my outstretched hand. I on the other hand , though want to scare them , but am equally scared for them, for I don’t want them to get hurt. Mrs Goofy flew out smooth and perched on another roof , little away but in clear sight of Mr. Goofy. She looked quite tensed with the struggle Mr goofy was having getting out of the open space. I patiently wait for him to find his way out and join Mrs Goofy on the other roof.

This is my almost every day routine with them, but they never fail to visit my garden and me. Occasionally I find them comedown to drink water from my plant’s bowl, or someday I will find them on the top railings soaking in the sun. However I have also noticed that they don’t frequent the garden , if am not around. Makes me wonder, whether the stroll is just a pretext and they actually just want to wish me Good Morning.

I guess in spite of my coldness towards them , they sense the warmth. I feel I am scary to them, but to them, I am not that scary!

Often in our real lives, we do have at least one such person who may look unapproachable, strict. But deep down , may be all that person really needs is someone to actually come and talk to them , listen to them , or just be there with them, get a feeling of being somebody from anybody. Warmth in a relationship can arise with repeated efforts of trying to ignite the warmth. May be you will also understand better and find ways to connect with them.

Well as of Mr & Mrs Goofy and myself, we do our routine again, and bid farewell to each other for today, in wait for the next morning to chase out the cold and take in some warmth from this unsaid friendship!

  • My First Time

There are times in life when you feel strongly about an idea that you may have been putting away for a long time. Over the years you tend to forget it, it gets buried and forgotten deep in the memory sand, only till the time when a strong gust of wind makes it resurface. At that moment you may allow yourself to take a fleeting glance at it or take a moment to admire the beautiful idea that you had once upon a time and marvel at the possible outcomes and allow it to pass away and withhold the sweet high you derived from the mini day dreaming escapade, unaware that idea was begging you to save it, take action on it before it breathes it last and vanishes. And there will be a few who will overcome their fear, fear of being ridiculed, fear of uncertainty, and just be all giving to the entire experience of bringing their idea to life.

Taking that first step towards your idea is the most difficult one, probably even more difficult than the moment when you tried to take that first step while trying to learn to walk as a baby. Today is one such day where my long cherished desire to write knocked on my door, extending its hand again towards me, and finally, after a decade, I decided to take the hand!

Writing my first-ever blog today was not really easy. Contrary to my typical daydreaming sequence, where words came rushing and I kept filling pages after pages, I made use of the delete button far more times than the number of words in my first sentence itself! I am glad and a little proud of myself for completing what I started today. Today I did realize that you need to find the courage in yourself, it’s there right within you to discover. I don’t know who needs to hear this, but if you have any long-forgotten cherished desire, could be traveling to a place, starting your own business, building your garden, pitching an idea to your boss, or even as simple as reading a book, go ahead set it in motion, take an action. If the thought has been nudging you for a long time, maybe it is begging you to give it a chance to breathe. What could be the worst outcome? It might not work, you fail. Still, you will have the satisfaction that you tried at least. You may learn a thing or two which might lead to something extraordinary. So take that chance!

Time to sign off now. Am glad I started my journey. I look forward to writing my next blog soon, till then don’t let the glimmering light of your thoughts fade away! Adios!
